About Technical Operations

BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
GLOBAL PRODUCT PLANNER
LOCATION: This is a remote role which will be based in the Eastern time zone and candidates must reside in the Eastern time zone to be considered.
The Global Product Planner is responsible for end-to-end supply planning for their assigned product(s), from Drug Substance (DS) through Drug Product (DP) to Finished Goods (FG) throughout the life cycle from launch to sunset. This role ensures product availability across supply nodes in scope (sites, CMOs and markets) by integrating demand signals, managing inventory strategies, and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders. The Global Product Planner also maintains oversight of local market performance, ensuring alignment with global supply objectives and responsiveness to regional dynamics.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· End-to-End Planning Ownership: Own the full supply plan for assigned product(s), including DS, DP, FG.
· Demand and Supply Integration: Collaborate with Demand Planners to consolidate global demand and net requirements. Ensure alignment of S&OP with AOP cycles.
· Inventory Strategy & Execution: Owner of the Inventory and E&O. Define and manage inventory positioning globally across, sites, DCs and market levels. Monitor inventory health using KPIs such as Weeks of Supply (WOS) and Inventory Turns.
· Risk Management & Escalation: Identify, escalate, and mitigate supply risks. Lead scenario planning and capacity simulations in collaboration with Network Planning .
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Logistics, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless execution of the supply plan.
· Performance Oversight: Ownership of products performance end-2-end at the Global and Local levels, partner with Regional Supply Chain planners and track local market performance, ensuring adherence to global supply strategies and responsiveness to regional needs.
· System & Data Governance: Maintain planning parameters in SAP IBP and always ensure plan credibility. Ensure data accuracy and process compliance.
SCALE & SCOPE OF THE ROLE
· Worldwide scope with focus on top countries, key & established brands and early assets
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Always Maintain Product Supply Plan actual.
· Ensure accuracy of information in SAP IBP.
· Support developing what-if supply scenarios to continuously improve performance relating to both service levels and total costs thru continuous evaluation of supply, outsourcing strategies, product strategies and the positioning of inventory across the network.
· Represent Global Product Supply Planning and actively participate in the PSCO and VST meetings.
· Execute supply chain strategies defined by the PSCOs and VST Leads.
· Develop strong relationships inside and outside the organization including Demand Planning, Regional Supply Chain, Logistics, Sites, Finance, Quality and Regulatory.
QUALIFICATIONS Experience/Knowledge Desired
· B.S. or BA in supply chain management, science and/or engineering (biotechnology, engineering or related sciences). M.B.A or advanced degree, diploma or certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS or CSCP certification) strongly preferred
· Required 7+ years of supply chain management and planning experience for a reputed, global or multi-plant Biotech, Pharmaceutical or Consumer Product company utilizing world class supply chain planning and execution processes.
· Required Experience with global product supply planning and knowledge of Biotech, Pharmaceutical Sales & Operations Planning processes.
· Good understanding and exposure to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other regulatory requirements
· Experience in developing and implementing world class, global supply chain planning processes and managing them through deployment of global advanced planning and scheduling systems
· Exposure and experience in Biotech / Pharmaceutical manufacturing process, principles and practices; preferably at production site and headquarters level
· Experience in working internationally in a fast paced, reputable global Biotech / Pharmaceutical or Consumer company organized in a matrix structure
· Expertise in SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and advanced planning tools.

The salary range for this position is: $105,400 to $158,200. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
