About Technical Operations
BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
Job Title: Sr. Manager, Clinical Supply Chain Planning

About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Manager of Clinical Supply Chain Planning to collaborate on the end-to-end clinical demand and supply strategies across our global study portfolio. This individual will play a critical role in forecasting, scenario planning, and risk mitigation to ensure timely and uninterrupted availability of clinical trial materials (CTM). The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a deep understanding of the clinical development lifecycle. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing organization by applying best-in-class planning principles, digital technologies, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Demand Forecast and Supply Planning
- Translate clinical protocols and study overviews into robust demand forecasts.
- Convert demand forecasts into supply plans including bulk, drug product, and comparator sourcing.
- Lead planning activities across multiple studies with a planning horizon of 0-24 months.
- Incorporate all forms of demand (e.g., stability, non-standard, non-clinical) into a centralized planning system.
- In collaboration with Clinical Supply Operations, assess shelf-life constraints, manage expiry risks, and plan for batch extensions or re-manufacture as needed.
- Participates in the Clinical and Operations Planning (C&OP) meetings to align cross-functional study needs and timelines.
Scenario Planning, Risk Mitigation, and Budgeting:
- Conduct scenario planning for demand/supply variability and clinical design changes.
- Manage supply chain risk assessments and lead mitigation strategies.
- Provide input into clinical study budgets and financial forecasts (LTP, AOP, accruals).
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, CDMOs, and internal stakeholders in Clinical, Regulatory, Finance, and Quality.
- Drive a culture of proactive communication, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Digital Transformation and Process Optimization:
- Champion the adoption of digital tools and planning platforms to enhance forecast accuracy, visibility, and decision-making.
- Support implementation of AI-driven analytics, automation dashboards, and integrated planning systems.
- Propose and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, agility, and supply resilience.

Must have: Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience in clinical supply chain, planning, or operations within the biotech/pharma industry
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and manage complex supply planning scenarios.
- Experience with digital planning tools (e.g., SAP, Tableau).
- Experience using the Smart Supplies Forecasting tool is viewed as beneficial.
- Strong understanding of GxP, ICH, and regulatory requirements governing clinical supply activities

Workstyle: Remote unless you live 100 miles from Novato, CA then the role will convert to hybrid onsite twice weekly.

The salary range for this position is: $122,000 to $167,200. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
