BioMarin is a global biotechnology company that relentlessly pursues bold science to translate genetic discoveries into new medicines that advance the future of human health.
Since our founding in 1997, we have applied our scientific expertise in understanding the underlying causes of genetic conditions to create transformative medicines, using a number of treatment modalities.
Using our unparalleledexpertisein genetics and molecular biology, we develop medicines for patients with significant unmet medicalneed. We enlist the best of the best – people with the right technicalexpertiseand a relentless drive to solve real problems – and create an environment that empowers our teams to pursue bold, innovative science. With this distinctive approach to drug discovery,we’veproduced a diverse pipeline of commercial, clinicaland preclinical candidates that have well-understood biology andprovidean opportunity to be first-to-market or offer a substantial benefit over existing therapeutic options.
About Technical Operations
BioMarin’s Technical Operations groupis responsible forcreating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientistsand support staff build and maintain BioMarin’scutting-edgemanufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, andprocurethe needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.Over the course of 10 -12 weeksour interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects.
The intern will work with the Stability group within Product Quality Controls & Performance Systems. The stability groupis responsible fordesigning studies and analyzing data to support the storage and shipping conditions for all BioMarin products. An important componentofthis responsibility is to define allowable temperature excursions which may occur during storage and/or shipment of products. Both the minimum/maximum temperature ranges and the maximum duration must be defined by the stability group.
The Stability Data Intern will play a key role in supporting BioMarin’s global supply chain operations by compiling and organizing available stability data for all BioMarin products (clinical and commercial). This data will beconsolidatedinto a central summary document that enables quick reference for allowable temperature excursions during shipping. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of data, helpingmaintaincompliance throughout the distribution process.
