Description 
The Associate Director - Lead, Medical Society Engagement will help develop a global medical society engagement strategy for BioMarin’s portfolio of existing and pipeline products, with a focus on prioritized programs. He/ she will develop a society specific plan in alignment with Medical Unit strategy, engage with priority societies to strengthen partnerships with BioMarin, and ensure excellence in additional society opportunities across the global organization.
This role will sit within the Medical Engagement (ME) group as part of the larger Medical Excellence Team within Global Medical Affairs (GMAF). He/she will partner closely with regional and country colleagues, specifically from strategic markets, as well as colleagues across GMAF. This role will maintain a focus on key strategic markets and assets / indications in line with company priorities.
Key areas of responsibility:
  • Lead and strategic point of contact for all medical society initiatives / projects
  • Accountable for development of a global medical society engagement plan in alignment with Medical Unit strategy
  • Identify and engage with priority medical societies across BioMarin therapeutic areas of interest; strengthen, develop and implement strategic partnerships with select ones
  • Guide global and local colleagues for medical society partnerships to enable excellence in all aspects of medical engagement
  • Establish and implement best practices and/or guidance principles for engaging with key strategic medical society stakeholders
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key external decision makers within the professional and medical societies and work collaboratively with internal partners to coordinate strategic engagements and facilitate partnerships, initiatives, and overarching research agreements
  • Collaboration across broader medical engagement to support further omnichannel efforts and next-level medical engagement within Global Medical Affairs
Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Working cross-functionally and collaboratively to communicate the strategic plans internally; educate and inform internal stakeholders; ensure alignment, coordination, and resourcing to execute the strategic plans with leadership and matrix teams appropriately
  • Collaboration with the Medical teams and additional cross-functional internal stakeholders to create and initiate innovative strategies, programs, and tactics with professional and medical societies in alignment with BioMarin's business objectives and specific therapeutic area strategic imperatives
  • Develop partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across GMAF organization, regions/ countries, and enterprise partners

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 129,200 to $ 193,800 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A discretionary bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
