Strategic Planning:
- Single point of accountability for Global Meeting Management
- Execute a strategic plan for global meetings and events, aligning with the company's objectives and goals.
- Collaborate with the Travel and Expense colleagues to optimize solutions.
- Design, develop and execute strategies that enable a world class meetings management function within GSP
- Design, develop and execute process, data and technology strategies to support business needs
- Develop a comprehensive set of procurement dashboards/ reports to measure performance of outsourced provider
Leadership:
- Represent Meetings Management and GSP in a leadership capacity across all levels of the company
- Act as the subject matter expect on evolving meetings practices, government regulations and standards that may be rapidly changing internally and externally
- Promote customer centric mindset and enable capabilities to drive that mindset
- Provide excellent leadership and be a strong partner for the GSP organization
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate extensively with internal departments to ensure understanding and compliance
- Communicate with external partners to align event objectives and ensure successful execution
- Foster relationships external relationships through industry benchmarking
Operational & Performance Management:
- Establish and implement governance structure
- Manage continuous improvement initiatives
- Responsible for driving end user compliance
- Responsible for developing excellent data and reporting capabilities
- Establish overall, aligned annual goals and targets for Meetings Management
- Establish objectives and measurable key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Risk Mangement:
- Work with the internal Global Security team to Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
- Stay current with changing regulations and ensure compliance with industry-specific
- Global Hotel RFP/Sourcing
- Customize RFP questions and collaborate with stakeholders
- Run reports, audit rates with TMC and Concur and centralize data to track spend
- Event Management
- Optimize the Event Tool new release and Supplier SLA’s and KPIs.
- Implement Global Meeting Sourcing and Event Tools
- Manage compliance and communication of Meeting Policy
- Demonstrated knowledge of meeting management processes
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as event management
- Extensive experience in event planning and management.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Strong negotiation abilities
- Flexibility to travel globally, as required.
- Knowledge of digital marketing and data analytics is advantageous.

- Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills with comfort working cross-functionally to gather information and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with leaders across the Global Sourcing and Procurement organization and stakeholders across BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc.
- Experience with Concur is a significant benefit.
- Experience with industry standard meeting management tools is a significant benefit.
Minimum Level of Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Meeting Management/ Hospitality, Supply Chain Management or related field.
- MBA or post-graduate qualifications in a related field would be an advantage.
- Procurement, Managed Services Implementation, Supply Chain. Extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management in a global capacity, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector.
- 7+ years of operational Meeting Management experience
- Strong knowledge of finance (cost benchmark, financial audit with key suppliers) and legal matters (contracting)
- Clear understanding of business value, business priorities, and potential implementation risks
- Significant experience working in a matrix (global/ regional) business environment
- Strong networking skills and a proven ability to build productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and business partners.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks across multiple projects using project management skills
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communications, and influencing skills
- Ability to work in high pressure environment, often under tight deadlines
- Periodic travel will be required
- 2x onsite weekly. Additional onsite activity may be needed according to business needs

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 108,900 to $ 168,000 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A discretionary bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
