Sr. Director, Talent Development
If you are passionate about growing talent, inspiring positive and engaging leadership and impacting best practice ways of working, then you could be our next Sr. Director, Talent Development. In this position, you will build on an amazing foundation to further refine and grow the impact of a comprehensive talent development strategy for the organization, including the design and delivery of various programs and processes for the organization. This involves understanding the needs and priorities of the business and translating these into positive, measurable solutions and outcomes.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Sr. Director, Talent Development will lead BioMarin’s Talent Development function, including a team of 3 direct reports, and be responsible for performance management, learning & development offerings, and coaching solutions, along with further refinement of talent review and succession planning processes.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement talent management strategies, initiatives, and programs that support the development and retention of high-performing employees.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of talent development processes and tools.
  • Serve as a key partner to clients in actively supporting the organization’s capacity to change and achieve greater effectiveness through change management support and training.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align talent development strategies with business objectives and drive organizational change and transformation.
  • Leverage data and analytics to make strategic recommendations and to measure outcomes.
  • Collaborate with leaders and People Business Partners to identify high-potential employees and create development plans to accelerate their growth and advance their careers.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive talent development framework and infrastructure supporting L&D and performance management.
  • Drive the design, development and execution of leadership, management and employee training and development programs to enhance skills, knowledge, and business performance.
  • Ensure state-of-the-art delivery of performance management and other talent development offerings through the BetterWorks platform.
  • Provide analysis and insights from Employee Engagement surveys; Develop and implement employee engagement strategies to foster a positive work environment and enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in talent development and make recommendations for continuous improvement to drive organizational performance.

  • Demonstrated record of designing and implementing end-to-end talent solutions that align with business objectives and add measurable value.
  • Strong understanding of all functional areas of HR, including common practices and employment laws.
  • Experience with performance management platforms, such as BetterWorks.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with a data-driven approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and performance measurement.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Vendor selection and management skills ensuring high quality and cost-effective solutions and delivery.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment and drive change within the organization.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of talent management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Organization Development/Effectiveness, Organizational Behavior, I/O Psychology, Human Resources, or related field. Master’s degree/PhD a plus.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in talent development or a related field, including people/team leadership experience.
  • Proven record of successfully developing and implementing talent development strategies and initiatives globally.
  • Previous experience collaborating with senior leaders & executives to implement and drive successful talent development initiatives.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and agile environment.
  • Strong executive presence with a record of effectively engaging with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage and drive change initiatives within an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted and productive working relationships with partners and stakeholders of all levels across the business.

Hybrid Workstyle:

  • 2x onsite weekly in San Rafael, CA (zip: 94901)
  • Onsite days are Tuesdays and Thursdays

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 209,500 to $ 314,300 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A discretionary bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
