Director,Global FP&A
BioMarin is the world leader in delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases. We target diseases that lack effective therapies and affect relatively small numbers of patients, many of whom are children. These conditions are often inherited, difficult to diagnose, progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind.
The Director of Global FP&A is responsible for planning, reporting, and analysis across the organization. This position oversees standard FP&A processes for the consolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and foreign exchange. The role includes managing a team of three individuals who contribute to management reporting, process improvements, analytics, and insights that support strategic business decisions. The director will interact with BioMarin's leadership team, CEO, CFO, and other business partners throughout the company and report to the Sr. Director of Global & Corporate FP&A. 
Key Responsibilities
Global FP&A Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of three individuals with regular coaching and feedback.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, annual, and long-range FP&A processes for BioMarin’s three financial statements.
  • Advance balance sheet, cash flow, and FX FP&A activities in collaboration with accounting, treasury, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee capital planning, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring alignment with investment priorities in manufacturing, real estate, IT, and R&D.
  • Coordinate and support the Investor Relations team in preparing for quarterly earnings by delivering timely financial insights, robust reporting packages, and ensuring alignment on messaging across FP&A and executive leadership.
  • Supervise the development of complex financial models, KPIs, management reports, and executive / BOD presentations to provide insights for financial decisions.
  • Collaborate with finance and business executives to establish business performance management processes and develop financial insights to inform strategies.
  • Develop an understanding of actual and planning applications; coordinate with the FP&A systems team regarding business requirements, system improvements, and problem-solving related to FP&A systems.
  • Participate in transformation initiatives such as corporate strategy, next-generation FP&A, and ERP implementation.
  • Maintain a strong controls environment, including FP&A SOX controls, supporting 10Q/K milestones, and accurate reporting for corporate bonus and PRSU awards.
Experience Desired:
  • More than 10 years of experience in complex, preferably in-house, corporate finance environments with FP&A leadership responsibilities.
  • Prior experience managing high-performing teams with emphasis on coaching and professional development.
  • Experience in the biopharma industry or other healthcare segments is preferred.
  • Demonstrated background in leveraging, enhancing, and implementing financial systems, particularly planning applications.
  • Strong results orientation, adaptability, flexibility, and creativity in addressing challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective in both team and individual settings.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; technical skills to support AI adoption within the department.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business required.
  • Advanced degree, CPA, or MBA preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $172,000 to $235,000. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
