It takes a village, and at BioMarin our corporate groups are the people behind our success. Groups such as IT, Finance, Legal, Global Compliance & Ethics, and our People Team provide foundational support of all areas of operation at BioMarin.

Director, Corporate Communications 
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic communicator to help drive and execute the internal communications strategy for our global organization, which includes ~3,000 employees worldwide. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Communications, the individual will be part of the Corporate Communications team under the Executive Vice President, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. TheDirector of Corporate Communicationswill play a pivotal role in shaping and cultivating a positive workplace culture, aligning it with the organization's brand, and ensuring that employees have a meaningful and engaging experience throughout their journey with the company.  

The individual in this role will work closely with colleagues across BioMarin, including other members of the Corporate Affairs team, cross-functional leaders and the People team. Key responsibilities includea combination of strategic planning,leadershipand communications skills.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
  • Lead internal communication initiativesacross BioMarinto ensure consistent and transparent messaging to employees, fostering a strong connection to the organizations brand and values. 
  • Represent Corporate Communications on cross-functional internal workstreams and project teams and support change management for enterprise initiatives. 
  • Support communications needs for the People team to shape/align communications with our corporate narrative and messages. 
  • Partner with the head of I&D to supportcommunication strategies for the companys Employee Resource Groups(key awareness days, review branding initiatives). 
  • Support internal and external speaking engagements for the Chief People Officer by creating content, providing preparation, and offering feedback aligned with the leader’s objectives. 
  • Plan and execute events and activities that contribute to a positive and engaging employee experience, such as supporting BioMarin’s employee engagement programs,includingall hands events, Rare Disease Day, ribbon cuttingsand other special events throughout year. 
  • Develop and ensure accuracy of corporate assets, including employee, patient and product photos and videos, company slide decks,the corporate narrativeand BioMarin fact sheet in collaboration with the broader Corporate Communications team. 
  • Evaluate and submit for external recognitions/awards across scientificinnovation,inclusion and employer of choice categories.
  • Partner with the Product Communications, Digital Storytelling and Advocacy teams to support cross-functional initiatives and foster strong collaboration.
  • Help establish and mobilize a network of “champions” at BioMarinsites around the world to participate in company-wide events and to seek to ensure that engagement initiatives. 
  • Create toolkits and messaging to support senior leaders in addressing key businessinitiatives and updates (i.e.earnings, key data readouts).
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions and tools that enhance communication and the overall employee experience. 
  • Build relationships with Corporate Affairs colleagues around the world to share best practices and content. 
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least 7-10 years in corporate communications, preferably in-house 
  • Sound judgment and superior attention to detail 
  • Excellent writer and natural storyteller with outstanding verbal communications skills 
  • Track record of building consensus and influence across a complex organization 
  • Team-oriented work style  
  • Demonstrated ability to drive successful internal communications strategies using various channels and tools 
  • Experience in executive communications and change management communications strategy and execution 
  • Successful issues/crisis management  
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or liberal arts

The salary range for this position is: $172,100 to $236,500. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
