About Corporate Groups

It takes a village, and at BioMarin our corporate groups are the people behind our success. Groups such as IT, Finance, Legal, Global Compliance & Ethics, and our People Team provide foundational support of all areas of operation at BioMarin.

The R&D Finance, Associate Director is a critical member of the R&D FP&A team. This position will report to the Head of R&D FP&A and will serve as the finance-business partner to both the Global Development (GD) and Strategic Management & Business Operations (SMO) organizations, as well as the Development Stage Asset Teams.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a strategic business partner to both the Head of Global Development and Strategic Management & Business Operations, taking an active role on the respective leadership teams.
  • Lead Development Stage Asset finance, serving as the R&D finance representative on each asset team, providing financial guidance, analysis, and supporting team deliverables.
  • Support all financial planning processes, including month-end close, management reporting, quarterly forecasting, annual operating plan, and development of the long-range plan.
  • Develop an understanding of all planning systems; coordinate across FP&A teams regarding business requirements and process & system improvements.
  • Participate in and lead strategic projects to support the evolution of FP&A and enhance our business partnering capability.
Experience Desired:
    • Minimum of 8 years in progressively complex financial leadership roles.
    • People management experience preferred.
    • Experience in the biopharma industry or other healthcare segments is preferred.
    • Comfortable liaising with all levels within BioMarin and demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders in the decision-making process.
    • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
    • Self-starter who demonstrates energy and enthusiasm, bringing a positive, solution-oriented approach to challenges.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.Strong results orientation, adaptability, flexibility, and creativity in addressing challenges.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective in both team and individual settings.
    • Someone who brings new ideas and ways of approaching relationship management and economic advisory but can also drive structure and efficiency into routine tasks.
                    Education:
                      • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business required.
                      • Advanced degree in Finance or MBA preferred

                    Workstyle:

                    • Hybrid  - requires 2x onsite in San Rafael, CA office weekly.  Onsite days are typically Tuesday and Thursday.  At times the business may require being onsite with more regularity according to needs.  No other office location is available.  This role may not be conducted on a virtual basis.

                    The salary range for this position is: $140,000 to $192,500. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
