About Technical Operations
BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
SUMMARY
The Novato QA Technical team is dedicated to enhancing data use for Novato Quality and advancing our Data Culture. Our goal is to free up our Novato Quality team members to focus more on their core work by eliminating non-value-added manual data tasks. We are seeking an Associate to be the business-facing person, responsible for analyzing data in Databricks, handling ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and advancing our data culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement new technologies and evolve existing technologies for the Novato Quality team
- Analyze and interpret data using Databricks
- Perform ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tasks to automate business processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide solutions
- Ensure data quality and integrity in compliance with GMP standards
- Advance the data culture within the Novato Quality team
- Provide business system automation to improve operational efficiency
- Other assignments, as needed
EXPERIENCE
Required Skills:
Minimum 4-5 years of industry experience or 3 years in a similar role
Minimum 4-5 years of combined GMP and Data Science experience, with an emphasis in automation
- Strong background in Quality Assurance
- Experience with Databricks for data analysis
- Skilled in Extract, Transform, Load (ETL)
- Proficiency in business system automation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Certification is a plus, such as Microsoft Copilot for Productivity)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Must display strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated influencing, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Strong collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and identify opportunities that have resulted in positive business outcomes
Desired Skills:
Desired 6-8 years of industry experience or 5 years in a similar role
Desired 6-8 years of combined GMP and Data Science experience, with an emphasis in automation
- Experience in Lean best practices and cGMP highly desired
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively identifying opportunities and taking actions
- Excellent organizational agility that demonstrates how to get results while strengthening internal and external relationships with minimal resources
- Highly skilled in the ability to work with ambiguity and complexity and can continuously modify options and solutions across all levels of the organization
- Ability to influence diverse stakeholders and drive accountability and decision-making cross-functionally
- Build relationships to share best practices and collaboratively solve problems
EDUCATION
A bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline is a minimum. A degree in Data Science is preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $93,200 to $139,800. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
