The Director, Global Pricing serves as a pricing subject matter expert within BioMarin and drives analyses required to support pricing decisions. This individual will be responsible for both leading Global pricing research and analyses as well as for coordinating and aligning global pricing activities.
The Director of Pricing will inform pricing decisions and ensure consideration of global implications of price changes. This individual will lead market research and will support the synthesis of pricing recommendations. He/she will assist in gathering pricing inputs for forecasting and business development assessments.
The Director of Pricing is a member of the Global Value, Access and Strategic Pricing function (GVASP) and will work closely with global, regional and local market access colleagues. The individual will also work closely with and coordinate with other market access colleagues within GVASP including the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team. The Director of Pricing will work across BioMarin’s marketed and pipeline products.
Responsibilities
- Pricing analytics and operations:
- International price referencing (IRP) and reporting including analytics based on IRP
- Price forecasting and modelling - work with internal commercial teams to support development of accurate and robust product forecasts.
- Collaborate with Global Commercial Operations to support long range planning process
- Internal price governance - Prepare and present high-quality recommendations to Senior leadership. Support and participate at selected governance forums (Senior VP pricing forums, CET, price board etc..).
- Price tracking and benchmarking of BMRN products and competitor products and maintain up to date global dashboards
- Develop compliant pricing and analytical tools to be used in discussions with payers
- Develop and maintain an internal pricing infrastructure that optimally tracks product prices in-market, gathers competitive intelligence, and efficiently produces decision-support analyses (business cases, IRP cascade impact, NPVs)
- Price management including managing price changes across the region
- Maintain relevant databases to ensure pricing accuracy within internal systems and monitor accordingly
- Conduct analyses to address price management issues
- Country support:
- Liaise with and tactically support local market access execution with pricing intelligence and analytics
- In collaboration with country managers, directly engage payers and health authorities as needed to support positive reimbursement outcomes
- Develop and support (working in conjunction with senior leadership an country teams) a coordinated negotiation strategy per country per product, with clearly defined negotiation approach.
- Pricing strategies:
- Ensure that global, regional and country pricing and access strategies are of high quality and are fit for purpose for the individual country
- Based on payer insights, develop pricing strategies incorporating outcome based agreements, risk sharing schemes and other financial arrangements that aligns with global pricing strategy drives access
- Pricing research
- Lead pricing studies to understand product value
- Conduct studies as needed to support P&R assessments for forecasting, business development, and pre-clinical assessments
- Provide market access input into launch sequencing and timing plans
- Operate quickly and decisively in a fast-paced environment
- Position requires up to 20% travel, including global travel
Experience
- 5+ years of European pharmaceutical market access experience
- Prior experience with pricing research
- Knowledge of Global or EU pricing & reimbursement processes
- Analytical skills and proficiency with Excel
- Strong communication, collaboration, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- International experience preferred
Education
- Bachelors, preferably in life sciences or business
- MBA, strongly preferred
