Associate Director, Commercial Learning and Development

Summary
The Associate Director, Commercial Training and Development, is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the impact of our Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Develop materials and deliver training programs to help colleagues meet business objectives
  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Field colleagues, and others to assure that created programs and materials will deliver the appropriate message to the customers
  • Collaborate with appropriate product marketing teams to understand product strategies and implement plans for execution within the Field sales organization
  • Launch preparation- work on the development of workshops, materials, etc. for successful launch readiness
  • Support and develop training initiatives with Sales/Field Support Directors to be launched in the field (e.g. POA meetings, etc.)
Responsibilities

New Hire Learning & Development:

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of training modules for new field personnel and/or newly promoted personnel, where appropriate
  • Design, update, and communicate self guided and on the job training objectives and materials to field roles
  • Plan and execute live in person training 
  • Refine new hire training roadmaps to reflect current needs of the product messaging for all audiences
  • Facilitate workshops in a clear and interactive manner
  • Evaluate new hire curriculum for continuous improvement for BioMarin products
  • Work with the Field Leadership to ensure new hire readiness

Tenured Field Learning & Development:

  • Evaluate training needs annually or as needed
  • Work in the field with AM/IAMs to determine needs; in collaboration with management, help provide coaching and pull-through of training initiatives (where appropriate) 
  • Consult with Management on needs of the field 
  • Facilitate the learning process via workshops, webinars, conference calls, one-on-one coaching sessions, and written communications to ensure AM/IAMs are competent in the areas of product knowledge, compliance, sales presentation skills, customer service, and communicating the value of BioMarin products. 
  • Plan, develop and conduct workshops at regional meetings and national meetings in collaboration with BioMarin Commercial Leadership 
  • Participate in curriculum design and workshop development for advanced training 
  • Work with cross-functional teams to set objectives for continuous improvement of sales force effectiveness; message delivery, knowledge, sales skills, etc.

    Additional Duties:
  • Lead the development of training materials for new indications, new products, competitors, etc.
  • Facilitate and lead POA planning for BRAND
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of training needs with the field force, marketing, and medical
  • Liaison with vendors, internal and external partners and provide appropriate training management where necessary
  • Provide on-going training on new policies and procedures, as needed.
  • Serve as training lead at meetings when Senior Director is not available

Requirements

  • Experience in orphan diseases/biotech a plus
  • Training experience preferred
  • Home Office/Corporate Office experience a plus

Education

  • Bachelor’ degree required; science background a plus
  • 5 years’ or more in Learning and Development preferred
  • Leader trained or certified in skills development a plus
