The Director, PKU Sales is responsible for the achievement of corporate sales objectives for aligned BioMarin commercial products within the region along with regional expense management. Key objectives include the recruitment, hiring, training, coaching and development of their Sales Team. Good organizational, analytical, problem solving, management and leadership skills required. Strong results orientation and a sense of urgency to get things done are essential. Demonstrated ability to gain the cooperation of others, excellent communication and presentation skills are required. Direct experience in establishing sales organizations in new or diverse markets is desired. A disciplined risk-taker who is comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment and capable of working effectively in such a setting is essential. The candidate must be flexible and adaptable to new situations. Must be goal oriented, know how to set aggressive but achievable targets and can identify and adjust when target performance will not be met. Instills high standard of performance and integrity in the organization and has a demonstrated track record of leading successful teams.
Management of six Account Managers
Recruit, hire, train and supervise all AMs in the region
Prioritize field time so as to provide individual direction and feedback to AMs
Provide reviews, evaluate performance, assign merit increases and implement performance improvement plans.
Develop regional business plans based on sales goals, sales and marketing plans, expectations and available resources for the purpose of meeting or exceeding sales forecasts.
Effectively manage regional operating budgets, provide expense management guidance AMs and ensure corporate expense policy is followed
Actively manage and participate in regional meetings, national sales meetings, professional society meetings, advisory boards, etc.
Assist in the development and implementation of incentive compensation plans for the PKU sales organization.
Be an expert in the clinical data and be able to provide direction for its use.
Actively develop AMs to provide opportunities for additional responsibility.
Be an active participant on the PKU franchise team as well as the field management team.
Interface with BioMarin commercial team to provide feedback and input for development of sales and marketing plans.
Communicate with the Senior Director, PKU Sales regularly to address regional needs.
Manage and adhere to all company policies assigned to sales management positions

Demonstrate leadership by serving as a role model of the organizations’ corporate values - Patient Centricity, Innovation, Ethics, Respect, Accountability and Continuous Learning
10 years experience in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industries.
5 years biotech / specialty sales involving high cost products.
Minimum 3 plus years of field sales management.
Prior work with ultra-rare, orphan disease or specialty marketplaces desired.
Promoting/managing promotion to academic institutions.
This is a field based (remote) leadership position responsible for a third of the PKU sales organization. Approximately 60% overnight domestic travel
Bachelor’s degree required.
