Role Summary
BioMarin launched its “Enterprise Resource Planning” (ERP) enterprise-wide operational initiative in Q1 2022. The implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is critical for supporting that tomorrow for our patients and our people. An effective ERP will support bridging our planning, transactional and analytics processes to meet the needs of our growing and maturing organization.
Implementing a new ERP impacts the entire company – putting this system in place is equally complex and transformational. To achieve this challenging goal, the project team is built around seven key global process workflows as outlined below:
- Forecast to Plan (FTP)
- Source to Pay (STP)
- Plan to Produce (PTP)
- Inventory to Deliver (ITD)
- Order to Cash (OTC)
- Record to Report (RTR)
- Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)
The Global Process Owners (GPO) are accountable for the development and integration of multiple process areas within the workstream and integration into the overall program.
This rare and exciting opportunity is to be part of the biggest transformation effort BioMarin has undertaken in its history and be responsible for one or more process areas within the FTP work stream reporting directly to FTP GPO.
The successful candidate will have experience of working independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment handling multiple priorities and be a strong collaborator with excellent written and oral communication skills working with global and regional Commercial & Clinical Operations and Global Supply Chain teams. This role has both functional and transformation (project management) aspects – as a change agent, this role needs to have a deep understanding of the business (forecasting /demand management) and have to manage the process of implementing it, leveraging Internal and systems integrator expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the Commercial Forecasting (CF) and Demand Management (DM) process areas or any of the other process areas within FTP as assigned by FTP GPO.
- Leads and manages development and documentation of the business requirements and acceptance criteria; business process design within CF & DM process areas and ensures integration with upstream and downstream process areas within FTP (Ex: Supply Planning).
- Manages and confirms the proper integration of process across other workstream (Ex: RTR) to drive and end to end integrated business process.
- Help develop and implement business processes for enabling the simplification and standardization of practices in line with the SAP first and fit to standard design philosophies.
- Liaise with regional and global Subject Matter Experts (SME) to confirm that all the business requirements are captured within the process areas and is kept aligned to address the changing business needs.
- Identify Organization Change Management (OCM) impact areas based on the requirements and business process and coordinate with OCM team to address these.
- Participate in design sprints to clearly articulate the business needs to the system implementation team and validate that system design done by Systems Integrator (SI) meets the business objectives.
- Perform impact analysis and sign-off on solution approach to address the identified gaps.
- Prepare business case for gap resolution to be presented at Change Control Board (CCB) meetings.
- Prepare key issues, provides options for fast decision making by global process owners and steering committee.
- Reports and manages issues, risks, and scope questions within assigned process area.
- Understands functions and features of ERP module(s) and how it is leveraged to orchestrate business processes in FTP process and familiarity with other process areas.
- Review and approve the following governance tasks - Process Design Document (PDD), Key Design Decisions (KDD), Functional Specification Document (FSD), Master Data Design Document (MSD) prepared by system implementation team.
- Participate in build and testing sprints to validate that the system configuration and build satisfies business requirement acceptance criteria.
- Be a change champion for the project functionally and cross functionally and support cut-over and go-live activities, hyper care and business adoption of the solution.
- Build partnerships and collaborate with global, functional, and regional teams on operational, and planning initiatives.
Experience & Skills:
The Process Lead will be a role that requires a growth mindset and dynamic set of business and collaboration skills, including the following:
- Minimum (10+) / Desired (15+) years of related commercial forecast and/or demand management experience in biotech / pharmaceutical industry.
- Experienced in both Statistical / Epidemiology (patient) driven commercial/clinical forecast modeling, consensus forecast building and market/distribution planning, at a minimum in one of the previous areas.
- Demonstrated quantitative and analytical modeling skills.
- Proven experience in managing Product lifecycle planning, defining and managing Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI), Available to Promise / Order (ATP/O) in a pharmaceutical / process industry context.
- Expert proficiency in Long Range Planning (LRP), Annual Operating plan (AOP) and S&OP w.r.t volume and revenue forecasting and demand management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of effective communication, persuasion, influencing as a team player and result oriented leader able to develop strong professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in influencing other with or without authority, facilitating discussion involving diverse perspectives and delivering key milestone decisions.
- A bias for action and a “can do” attitude with a solution mindset.
- Desirable work experience in a similar transformational effort such as an ERP S4/HANA / IBP program or similar enterprise/local deployment in the bio-pharma context.
- Must be willing to be onsite (California / Ireland) based on program needs. Co-location weeks are approximately 1 per month.
Education
BA/BS Business or the Sciences required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 168,000 to $ 252,000 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A discretionary bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
