Investor Relations Coordinator

  • Reporting to the VP of Investor Relations (IR), the IR Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative support to the VP, and other members of the IR team.  The Coordinator’s assignments will be varied and complex in nature, often requiring considerable judgment, creativity, and discretion in resolving issues. This individual must be a self-starter and have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a continually changing environment with little to no guidance.  This position interfaces with BioMarin executives, shareholders, research analysts and colleagues so a high-level of professionalism and discretion is required. 

The IR Coordinator will also be responsible for the following:

  • Calendar management – Scheduling investor meetings for the IR team, BMRN management with Wall Street stakeholders. Prioritizing meeting requests, with guidance from the VP, is necessary given high volume of requests for access to BMRN executives.
  • Investor events and meetings – working with corporate access representatives from a variety of investment banks and institutional investors to register and calendar IR/BMRN executives for conferences, investor meetings, and other events for the IR department. Interfacing with other executive coordinators to confirm availability of executives, preparing agendas and managing Outlook/Zoom invitations for events is a primary responsibility.
  • Quarterly results preparation – for the 4 quarterly financial results’ updates per year, help with logistics and execution including, setting up conference call access with the vendor, drafting press release announcing time and details for accessing the quarterly results conference calls. Ordering lunches for executives on the day of the calls, printing out final materials to be used during the calls and generally helping with anything needed to execute a seamless quarterly event.
  • Coordinating, compiling, and editing various materials upon request, including PPT presentations, tracking contact with investors and analysts
  • Preparing expense reports
  • Coordinating domestic and international travel as needed
  • Assisting with miscellaneous administrative requests from team-members with a lot of opportunity to learn about the IR function and take on more responsibility as desired and able

In addition to being professional and courteous, the IR Coordinator must possess:

  • A proven ability to perform at an Executive level
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Word. An interest in learning about other technology platforms used in the IR department to stay on top of industry and competitor updates a plus
  • Quick learner and self-starter capabilities -- able to work proactively and independently on tasks
  • Strong calendaring skills and catering/meeting planner capabilities
  • Strong communication skills on all levels with internal leaders, employees, and outside vendors
  • Responsiveness to deadlines, strong attention to detail, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Independent judgment and discretion with sensitive/confidential and proprietary information
  • A can-do attitude, ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to receive and act on“ad-hoc” requests
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • A team-oriented work style
  • An openness to periodically responding to requests outside of normal business hours.

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of executive level support (VP) and office administration and an interest in learning more about investor relations as there is ample opportunity to take on more responsibility and grow into a dedicated IR role
  • Strong PC computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, Concur expense reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
