Summary
The Executive Director, North American Brand Management is responsible for commercial strategy, execution planning and brand marketing for the portfolio of BioMarin rare disease products in North America , including pipeline commercialization efforts. The Executive Director provides leadership direction to cross-functional teams to maximize short and long-term Franchise value, including both in-line and pre-launch products.

Responsibilities
  • Leads and establishes strategic objectives and structure for the North American marketing function. This team is currently responsible for five products and around $600M revenue in 2018.
  • Provides overall leadership for all North American BioMarin brand teams. The commercial brand teams are comprised of marketing, sales, field based clinical support, market access, trade, operations, managed markets, patient services, etc.
  • Influences and collaborates with commercial and medical functions in North America for effective operational excellence and to ensure functional team goal alignment
  • Hires, manages and oversees training for all members of the North American Marketing team
  • Oversees brand marketing and pre-marketing plans and associated budgets, and is responsible for managing execution against plans and budgets
  • Oversees the annual brand plans across multiple products and in close partnership with other pertinent functions including, Global Marketing, Sales, Commercial Operations, & Market Access, and Medical Affairs
  • Interacts with compliance, regulatory, program management, clinical development and any other BioMarin stakeholders associated with North American commercial activities.
  • Contributes leadership skills, knowledge & abilities in helping to identify/create innovative strategies, plans & tactics for long-term brand growth. Oversees launch teams and develops the commercial launch strategy for pre-launch products
  • Maintain strong relations with essential key opinion leaders and leaders of important external policy initiatives
  • Senior member of North America Commercial Leadership Team
  • Senior member of the Global franchise team
  • Assumes fiduciary responsibility for all marketing related cost centers
  • Represent brand issues as needed to BioMarin executive management
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of related marketing experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. 
  • Experience in the rare disease marketplace preferred.
  • Relevant experience in highly competitive marketplaces beneficial.
Education 
  • Bachelor in Business, Arts or Science
  • JD or MBA preferred
