This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our global brand management team to lead global commercial strategy to shorten diagnostic odyssey for patients and families with rare diseases

SUMMARY

The Lysosomal Storage Disease (LSD) franchise is currently BioMarin’s largest and is comprised of our flagship brands: Naglazyme, Vimizim and Brineura.This role is dedicated to global strategies and tactics to support earlier diagnosis for our LSD disease states: CLN2, MPS VI and Morquio A.  This position reports to the Senior Director of the Global LSD Franchise.

This position offers a unique opportunity as it will play an active role across multiple BioMarin disease areas.This franchise role requires tactical, operational, organizational, problem solving, communications, and project management skills. Strong results orientation and a sense of urgency to get things done are critical. This professional is a disciplined risk-taker that embraces innovative approaches, and is comfortable in an entrepreneurial and growing commercial organization. Must be creative and adaptable to unique and changing situations, be goal-oriented, know how to set aggressive, achievable targets, and motivate internal cross-functional teams as well as third-party vendors and agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the growth of MPS and CLN2 businesses globally by driving strategies for earlier diagnosis (FIND strategies)
    • Working closely with CLN2 and MPS brand leads, medical and scientific affairs, develop and champion strategies to support early detection and diagnosis for our disease areas. 
    • Subject matter expert and consult for brand leads related to patient diagnostic journey. 
    • Responsible for early diagnosis message development, complementary to disease state education (DSE) messaging
    • Develop digital strategy and initiatives, including optimizing the global diagnostic websites (Paediatricseizures.com and Test4MPS.com)
  • Responsible foridentifying, developing and managing key global marketing activities such as disease/symptommessaging related to screening and early diagnosis, digital strategy and execution, advisory boards/market research, and appropriate input into publication plan.
    • Collaborate closely with (4) regional teams (including Brand, Medical and Scientific Affairs to develop and optimize BioMarin programs for disease awareness, ongoing screening and diagnosis success.  Ensure global strategies and tactics are well aligned with regional needs and priorities
      • Responsible for disease awareness initiatives, such as MPS International Awareness Day and Batten Disease and International Batten Disease Day.
    • Establish KPIs for our FIND Strategies.
  • Contribute on NewbornScreening/Diagnostics working team.  Responsible for supporting Commercial team education in trends related to diagnosis and testing. 
  • Opportunity to support some aspects of the PKU business, which is a growth franchise within BioMarin

25% travel required. 

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

  • 3+ years of marketing experiencein biotechnology or pharmaceuticals
  • Orphan/ultra-orphan disease experience preferred
  • Track record of collaboration interacting at a matrix organization, cross-functionally and cross-geography
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong planning and organization skills
  • Global marketing experience in biotechnology and/or pharmaceuticalspreferredStrong Digital skills a plus
  • Operates quickly and decisively in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Self-Motivated
  • Organizational savvy
  • Ability to lead without authority within highly matrixed team environment
  • Flexible and adaptable to a changing environment

EDUCATION

Bachelors degree, preferably in business or life sciences

• MBA preferred
