Associate Director - Market Insights and Education

Summary

This key position on the BMN 270 North America Marketing Team spans across multiple areas including strategy, pre-/post-launch planning and tactical pull-through. Primary responsibilities include the management and optimization of core educational programs/materials for patients and health care providers as well as managing crucial insights efforts, including market research projects and advisory boards in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Thesuccessful candidate will help to identify gaps and critical business needsas well as opportunities to position the brand for success in a highly competitive environment. Ideal candidateswill have hemophilia experience, including a strong understanding and respect for this empowered community of patients, patient advocates and dedicated health care providers.This position reports to the Market Insights and Education lead.

Key Responsibilities:

Contribute to and execute brand pre-/post-launch strategyand tactics forBioMarin’s late stage investigational gene therapy product in the hemophilia space. This will include:

  • Managing marketing insights and educational initiatives to includeday-to-day oversight of educational speaker programs, advisory boards, congress exhibit space and symposia, and digital assets (e.g., web properties, social media, email CRM campaigns)
  • Partner with consumer and health care provider marketing teams, patient advocacy lead, as well as the field sales organization to assess needs and ensure alignment
  • Partner with advertising and medical communication agencies
  • Manage logistics for robust health care provider disease state / branded speaker bureau(s) and possible patient ambassador programs
  • Lead the creation of new materials/programs through concept, development, medical/legal review, production, dissemination, and measured impact
  • Collect and analyze data from event management agency partner, digital community and analytics team, and field teams
  • Own weekly status meetings with agency partners
  • Collaborate with commercial learning & development team to ensure optimal rollout and execution of new programs and educational materials/initiatives
  • Partner closely with Market Insights and Education lead to assess key program performance indicators and develop/execute annual speaker training(s), brand planning, congress/conference management, and associated program tasks that drive success of those metrics
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • 4+ yearsmarketing experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with key opinion leaders and advocacy leaders
  • Self-motivated, willing to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves to help where needed across appropriate functional areas
  • Demonstrated ability to think and communicate strategically
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Experience creating and adhering to budgets and timelines
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and contingency planning skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Willingness to travel domestically 30% (including many weekends)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rare disease experience
  • Product launch experience
  • Disease state (unbranded) as well as branded educational program experience
  • Patient advocacy group experience
  • Hemophilia patient / healthcare provider experience
  • Pharmaceutical sales experience
  • Quick-witted with a competitive edge and ability to make others laugh one minute and lead them to new organizational achievements the next

Education

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Life Science, Business, or Marketing/Communications
