BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients. The Senior Supply Planning Manager is a senior role within the Planning and Logistics department in Shanbally, Cork. The Supply Planning team is responsible for converting the consensus demand forecast into production plans which provide optimal CMO and distribution center inventories and incorporate effective contingencies for appropriate risks and initiatives. 

The Supply Planning team also supports effective and efficient execution by BioMarin’s Technical Operations Group with detailed and responsive production planning activities.

The Senior Supply Planning Manager will provide technical planning leadership and mentoring to the Supply Planning team and will be required to support and drive End to End process and system improvement projects in line with business needs and in turn employ change management skills as part of any project roll outs.

Tactical & Strategic Contribution

  • Lead, develop and support the execution of the global end-to-end planning initiatives and projects
  • Lead/support the evaluation of current processes and the transition to improved future processes in conjunction with the wider global team, including measuring and reporting progress at specified intervals
  • Lead/support the execution of tactical and strategic goals & projects
  • Applied experience in inventory control methodologies
  • Propose, implement and measure supply planning models to meet current and future business needs
  • Responsible for all the deliverables associated with assigned initiatives, in conjunction with other assigned core team members
  • Design and facilitate change management plans for impacted functions where applicable

Analysis & Planning

  • Work with subject matter expects and stakeholders to ensure that systems and processes are in place to support S&OP, rough cut, capacity & inventory planning
  • Support the development and reporting of performance metrics, root cause analysis, executive update, actions needed and opportunities.
  • Evaluate and operate integrated Supply Chain systems (e.g. ERP, APS) against business requirements and become an ‘Key User / SME for these systems.
  • Work with business partners to implement effective and optimal planning routines and behaviours

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Recognized as global supply planning technical expert
  • Serve as functional expert in supply planning solution design and implementation
  • Provide technical Planning leadership and mentorship to the Global Supply Planning team
  • Positively challenge and influence peers and senior management to deliver timely results
  • Effective leadership of cross-functional teams.


The work product from the Senior Supply Planning Manager will indirectly support product revenue and other programs executed in the network, will be a major driver for Manufacturing and Inventory expenses, and will highly impact operational and transportation costs of external operations. The specific scope includes;

  • Tactical and strategic contribution to the Global Supply Planning team
  • Lead and/or support global supply planning initiatives
  • Technical leadership and mentorship

The Senior Supply Planning Manager is an individual contributor role with potential for future people leadership responsibility. This crucial role is also a member of the both the wider site and global BioMarin supply chain community and participates in network initiatives and efforts, including improving governance, and delivering supply chain strategic objectives.


    • Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree is preferred
    • APICS certification (CPIM, CRIM, CSCP) preferred
    • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Project software required
    • Operational Excellence, Lean Process development, Six Sigma tools and techniques are desirable
    • Experience with ERP systems required, Oracle experience is preferred


  • Minimum 10 years progressive global supply chain experience with recent experience in supply network planning.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing organization, biotech preferred
  • Strong background working with supply chain systems, processes and tools.
  • Experience working with advanced planning systems (APS) and optimization tools
  • Successful candidates must have demonstrated experience in leading, developing and coaching teams.
  • Working knowledge of current GxP regulations
  • Successful candidates must have demonstrated experience in leading medium to large planning related projects
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with peers, senior management and other functional groups to achieve business objectives required
  • Ability to multi-task in a rapidly changing work environment - ability to balance and prioritise multiple projects and initiatives
  • Superior communication skills – oral, written and formal presentation skills with senior management, middle management and line staff
